Make your own flashlight lantern torch to use during the SNöFLINGA Enchanting Winter Gathering! Lanterns can be carried along the lighted trails or used to join in IlluminDance, helping create a more artful, glowing, site-specific experience.

Workshop details:

  • Takes approximately 15–20 minutes to make one lantern
  • Drop in anytime between 4:00–7:00 PM
  • Art supplies provided

What to know / bring (optional):

  • Bring a plastic bottle if you want a specific lantern shape (molds will also be available)
  • Lanterns take overnight to dry — bring a small empty box if you’d like to take yours home right away
  • Lanterns work best when duct taped to a flashlight with:
    • a larger head
    • an on/off switch on the handle
  • A limited number of flashlights will be available on a first-come, first-served basis

Bring Your Lantern to The SNöFLINGA Enchanting Winter Gathering!
Join us for a free, all-ages illuminated evening at Clark Park from 6:00–8:30 PM, where you can carry your handmade lantern along the self-guided lighted loop or use it during IlluminDance community circle dances.

Montana-Alaska-Montanan performer, instructor and choreographer, Melissa Wanamaker, has over 20 years of experience educating dancers of all ages and experience levels and creating community spectacle with a mythopoetic lens. This artist, community catalyst, wife and mother of two loves to share one of her life's great passions with local movers and shakers. About IlluminDance: Illumindancers combine modern theatrical movement influenced by world dance traditions for use in site-specific Art installations and celebratory community spectacle.
